In the name of Allāh, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. After praising and thanking Allāh, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to my pivotal guides and supporters. This includes my wife, Nazira, for her unconditional and continuous support and encouragement throughout the writing of this book. I add my teacher, Ustādh Asim Khan, whose classes inspired me to share this resource with others and whose reflections provided a source for much of this work.
I also thank my esteemed teachers; my uncle Sheikh (Dr.) Husni Hammuda, and my brother Ustādh Ali Hammuda who revised this book from cover to cover, advising, correcting and endorsing its ideas. May Allāh fill their lives and hereafter with happiness and success. I thank my beloved friend Ahmad Chaker Jomaa who advised me and supported this work.
I add to this list the committee of the University of Kingston Islāmic Society, particularly the then-President, brother Hamad Momin, and, of course, the cohort of students who insisted on inviting me to deliver a lecture series on al-Ḥujurāt, receiving my sheer inexperience and often disordered discussions with encouragement and engagement. A number of the most enthusiastic attendees assisted in formulating this work, editing it, writing reflections, introductions, and conclusions.
I also sincerely thank sister Ayshah Syed, who very rigorously and professionally edited this work, correcting and advising throughout. I have included her contact details on the inside cover for those looking for expert proof-reading or editing. May Allāh reward all contributors and recognise them for their sincerity and commitment to the Qur’ān. Āmīn.
